Sweetwater Erotic

In a neighborhood of Athens lives a slightly eccentric kiosk owner, Manolios, who is searching for the man responsible for his father's death. His clientele consists mainly of the residents of the neighboring apartment building. It is a microcosm with its own problems and gossip: the grumpy owner of the apartment building, his son, the scatterbrained concierge, a young student, and a few others. Inevitably, minor conflicts arise among them and various emotions develop, such as Manolis' love for the student, who, however, clearly desires the son of the apartment building's owner.

Directed by Kostas Andritsos, Sweetwater Erotic leans on a strong ensemble — Giorgos Papazisis, Anna Matzourani, Stavros Xenidis — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1972.
