About Love Beast: Attack!
A high school girl gets molested by her mother’s current lover. He is a sleazy detective working on the yakuza drug trade. The girl runs away from home but returns five years later with a newspaper article describing her mother’s apparent suicide. Within the corruption of a decaying shipping port she is determined to find the truth behind her mother’s death and what happened to her younger sister who had stayed behind.
Directed by Naosuke Kurosawa, Love Beast: Attack! leans on a strong ensemble — Jun Izumi, Rui Nonomura, Nenji Kobayashi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1981.
