About Sumpah Semerah Padi
After successfully recapturing Semerah Padi from the terrorists who had killed his father Demang Satria, Adi Putra decides to rule Semerah Padi under the Islamic ruling. His ruling however wouldn't last for long. Adi Putra own lacked of reasoning will lead to his own downfall when someone accused his sister Kesuma to have an out of marriage relationship with his own best-friend Andika.
Directed by M. Amin, Sumpah Semerah Padi leans on a strong ensemble — Deddy M. Borhan, Aziz Jaafar, Saadiah — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 1981.
