About Champagne... e fagioli
The noble Count Cellini is grappling with a period of profound economic and personal crisis. Together with his trusted butler, he comes across a young woman of foreign origins, on whose trail there is a cruel local gangster. The count, much older than her, ends up falling in love with her and when the girl starts dating a man from the city's upper middle class, the count and her butler will organize a deception to her boss to pay her her dowry.
Directed by Oscar Brazzi, Champagne... e fagioli leans on a strong ensemble — Howard Ross, Leonora Fani, Giampiero Becherelli — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1980.
