A high school girl escapes from her village and works as a singer in Cairo, so the mayor decides to send three boys to the city to bring her alive or dead. They are dazzled by the city’s world and meet a quorum that leads them to the owner of a nightclub and her brother, and they work for their accounts in suspicious business and are chased by a rival gang and trying to trap them.
Directed by Saeed Mohammad Marzouq, The Turtles leans on a strong ensemble — Sameer Ghanem, Tayseir Fahmy, Ghada ElShamaa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1996.
