Interloper

Lao Qi (Li Xiaochuan), a foolish fellow in the teahouse, is good friends with Guan Shuai (Li Longjun), who is filming a documentary, and a college student, Zhang Jing (Li Zhengyanqi), who is picking up the story, comes to the teahouse. Zhang Jing falls in love with Guan Shuai, but soon after Guan Shuai leaves, Zhang Jing continues to shoot Lao Qi, who falls in love with Zhang Jing.

Directed by Yang Dajiang, Interloper leans on a strong ensemble — Li Xiaochuan, Li Longjun, Li Zheng Yan Qi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2020.
