Checkmate

Mark Davis stars as a wealthy playboy who lives his life on his own terms. He's the kind of guy who always gets his way, in life and in love. All that changes when he runs into a gorgeous married woman (Alex Dane). Her rail-thin figure and invitingly wide mouth are more than he can resist and soon the two are engaged in a flirtation that threatens to blow up in both of their faces.

Directed by Salvo Di Liberto, Joe D'Amato, Checkmate leans on a strong ensemble — Alex Dane, Monica Orsini, Katalyn Hoffner — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1996.
