Interference

When Mum and her three children rent a country cottage, the arrival of Dad coincides with the manifestation of a ghostly crying woman on the telephone, radio, record player and television. Made for ITV Schools' 'Middle English' strand, this three-part drama was later turned into a stage play by writer Jan Mark and published in Longman's 'Star Plays' series in 1987.

Directed by Richard Callanan, Interference leans on a strong ensemble — Annie Hayes, John Bleasdale, Samantha Holland — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1985.
