Al-Sharissa

Samia rebels against her unemployed husband until she gets a divorce, and starts dreaming of living outside the poor neighborhood into a rich life. She works for a rich man, and tries to seduce his son Sherif to marry her. But when she fails, she transfers the game to his unmarried uncle.

Directed by Ahmed Saqr, Al-Sharissa leans on a strong ensemble — Ezzat Al Alaily, Safia ElEmary, Ahmed Abdelaziz — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1993.
