Small Blue Disc

In 1978 Gus and Ben, two teenagers, are abducted by an alien force. Forty years later they are still living with the effects of that night. Ben has become an alcoholic and Gus has been hiding his true origins. Both have tried to cope in their own way, but nothing has worked. Flashing between 1978 and 2019, our protagonists are challenged at every point by friends and family, some of them still demanding to know what happened to the duo that night all those years ago.

Directed by Darren Haywood, Small Blue Disc leans on a strong ensemble — Mia Mills, Keeley Harker, Christopher Clarke — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2019.
