Sang Ziming returns to his hometown, Qilin, seeking to find his lover, Lianxiang, to consummate their marriage. He is also on a secret mission to locate the "Qilin Jade Pearl" and to investigate whether its disappearance is related to a rumored fox demon. However, upon meeting Lianxiang, Sang Ziming discovers that she is not the same person he once knew; she is always accompanied by a white-haired fox demon as she searches for the truth.
Directed by Wong Chou-kuen, The Mysterious Fox leans on a strong ensemble — Shawn Wei, Zhang Zhixi, Wang Sijie — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 2021.
