About How I Was Independent
Lado really wanted to prove to the guys that he was an “independent man.” One day he was left alone in the apartment. And Lado invited his playmates to rehearse a “yard theater” performance at his home. Mom's cosmetics were used, a curtain was made from window curtains, and a wooden toy horse was turned into a goat. Now the guys were able to verify Lado’s “independence”.
Directed by Yevgeni Radkevich, How I Was Independent leans on a strong ensemble — Vladimir Aleksi-Meskheshvili, Natalya Shanetskaya, Yaroslav Esinovskiy — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1987.
