Tomoki Hamasaki failed in job hunting after graduating from university. He was disappointed in the interview he received as a graduate. One day, when he went deep into the mountains to try to hang himself, he met workers in the mountains who were engaged in logging and worked as they were. He met Michiko Yamada, a woman who works here, but she had a secret.
Directed by Yûjirô Ozeki, Yogari no mori: Hotetta onna-tachi leans on a strong ensemble — Mikako Abe, Saya Tanihana, Ayumi Kimito — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2020.
