The story begins with a commotion in court during the trial session of a wild girl who was involved with pornographic photos when a former nurse appeared to reveal that the girl was the daughter of a famous tycoon in Jakarta. Meanwhile, the rich man's daughter who had just gotten married was the biological child of the wild girl's mother, who was a prostitute. The two were exchanged when their newborns were in the hospital.
Directed by Wahyu Sihombing, Gadis Hitam Putih leans on a strong ensemble — Lydia Kandou, Ogy Ahmad Daud, Deddy Mizwar — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1986.
