Returned Music

Young musicologist Marina Gabrielyan arrives in Leningrad with the aim of finding and restoring the first symphony by renowned composer Sergei Kornilov. Despite the composer's active resistance, she manages to find individual parts of the symphony and, with the help of young composer Gurov, restore the music.

Directed by Vitali Aksyonov, Returned Music leans on a strong ensemble — Zinoviy Gerdt, Vilyam Semyonov, Raisa Spasskaya — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1965.
