The final part of Hella Wuolijoki's family saga. After Aarne dies in the war, his sisters want to divide up the Niskavuori farm. The Karelians also want their share of the inheritance. However, Loviisa wants to leave behind an independent and viable farm. Based on a play by Hella Wuolijoki from 1953.
Directed by Kalle Pursiainen, Entäs nyt, Niskavuori? leans on a strong ensemble — Helinä Viitanen, Eriikka Magnusson, Tapani Perttu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1987.
