Heaven of Invention

A writer returns home, during a period of writer's block, to confront his collapsing family. His wife is struggling to handle their gifted daughter, whose behavior is increasingly volatile. It soon becomes clear that the only solution is to split up the family, but a clean break is easier said than done. When the floodgates of the past open, it's hard to come away unscathed.

Directed by Lorena Meza, Heaven of Invention leans on a strong ensemble — Marina de Tavira, Alfonso Herrera, Regina Blandón — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2020.
