
Ruknettin is a very wealthy, lonely, and sick businessman. Arif and Şemsi save him from committing suicide. He stays with them and feels better. Wealthy Naci wants his daughter Selma to marry her partner Nihat, but she does not want to. She tells her father that she will marry Ruknettin's son Tahsin. When Nihat's men try to kidnap Selma, Arif and his friends rescue her. Arif takes on the role of Tahsin. Selma and Tahsin fall in love with each other. It is revealed that Arif's mother is Ruknettin's ex-wife. Arif does not forgive his father. Selma and Ruknettin try to convince him, and they succeed. They all start a happy life together.
Directed by Türker İnanoğlu, Efkarlı Sosyetede leans on a strong ensemble — Sadri Alışık, Filiz Akın, Hüseyin Baradan — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1968.
