How far may man intervene in creation to save what he loves? Kaito has constructed an android, Akira, who is deeply devoted to him. But after the death of his brother Haruki, Kaito turns his back on Akira. The latter lets himself be recruited by OSI employees to take part in a Mars mission. He seems to be the right candidate, as he is completely unfeeling. But is he really? And is Haruki really dead?
Directed by Masakazu Hattori, FRONTIER leans on a strong ensemble — Shogo Kouno, Yuta Nakayama, Taishū Nukanobu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about science fiction titles of 2020.
