About Dr. Hand
A Magician and his two sidekicks, a Monkey and a flying Robot, take the viewer on a journey through time and space to cure a deaf boy of his cancer. In order to find the cure, dangerous territory must be traveled through in order to obtain the three legendary Sign Language elements, which hold the cure to the deaf boy's illness. The party must travel through the forbidden forest, secret caves, and onto a mysterious island, meeting odd characters along the way, as well as dangerous creatures that must be overcome.
Directed by Gary Brooks, Dr. Hand leans on a strong ensemble — Carey Ballard, Gary Brooks, Frank Germinaro Jr. — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 2005.
