About Northern Rhapsody
Tonya, a winner of a regional competition, is admitted to the entrance exams to the capital's Song and Dance Ensemble. The young polar pilot Ladeikin helps the girl to get from the Far North to Moscow and become a soloist of the ensemble.
Directed by Eduard Abalov, Northern Rhapsody leans on a strong ensemble — Lyudmila Gavrilova, Leonid Kuravlyov, Stanislav Chekan — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1974.
