Into the Mud

Matvey Pestsov, an employee of the District Party Committee, proposes to introduce collective contracting in one of the collective farms. The administration and the chairman of the collective farm Volgin are against the experiment. But Pestsov does not give up.

Directed by Andrei Razumovsky, Into the Mud leans on a strong ensemble — Liubomiras Laucevičius, Mariya Zubareva, Valeri Poroshin — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1987.
