And now, in the 40s of the twentieth century, a young Leningrad scientist Golovin, who spent many years searching for expedition maps, discovers documents from the naval archive in the German-occupied territory...

Directed by Mikhail Vedyshev, Wanderer leans on a strong ensemble — Aleksandr Trofimov, Gennady Goryachev, Aleksei Buldakov — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about history titles of 1988.
