Once, in the apartment of a modest designer named Peresukhin, an Unknown figure appears, offering him the chance to become the ruler of the planet Aldebaran. However, in order to transition to another spatial dimension, the film's hero must part with his life by jumping from the third floor. Peresukhin chooses his familiar existence over the temptation of becoming a dictator on a distant planet.
Directed by Boris Nikolaevskiy, To Aldebaran leans on a strong ensemble — Vyacheslav Baranov, Aleksey Zolotnitskiy — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about science fiction titles of 1989.
