
Songwriter Benny Davis goes through an elaborate buildup before he is allowed to sing a collection of his songs. He takes a group of his friends through his song-factory, and workmen break out in a rash of dances and song numbers. Davis then sings some of his own songs.
Directed by Roy Mack, Stardust leans on a strong ensemble — Benny Davis, Bobby Joyce, Jackie Strong — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about music titles of 1938.
