About Trollie: The Great Rescue
When Max goes out looking for troll’s footsteps, he climbs the fence of luxury hotel Dikkersdorp. Caught by a security guard who mistakenly holds him responsible of a theft orchestrated by the mysterious Pie, Max is in trouble. Luckily, his new neighbor Sellie sets him free and, together, they meet with Trollie. Unfortunately, Sellie’s father hears about the troll and goes out of his way to expose the creature to the public. But Trollie is very miserable being put in display and Max stages his escape to reunite his troll friend with his family in the land of Ekeby.
Directed by Gert Embrechts, Trollie: The Great Rescue leans on a strong ensemble — Olga Zuiderhoek, Pauline Bas, Thijs Boermans — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 2021.
