About The Butterfly
Kirsten Kosinski (Anna Kristina) leaves her provincial town to work in the big city. After getting a job as a secretary, she finds herself occasionally "sellin her charms." Eventually, she becomes a full-time prostitute and feels the need to ensure the protection of a pimp to survive in this environment.
Directed by Alexis Neve, The Butterfly leans on a strong ensemble — Anna Kristina, Dolly von Doll, Lilly Barwig — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1970.
