About Our Neighbor, Miss Yae
Keitaro is a law student and Yaeko is a high school girl. They are neighbors, and their friendship is starting to develop into something more romantic. Then, Yaeko's sister Kyouko has a breakup with her husband and returns home. Kyouko is clearly interested in Keitaro and Yae becomes anxious.
Directed by Yasujirō Shimazu, Our Neighbor, Miss Yae leans on a strong ensemble — Yumeko Aizome, Ryōtarō Mizushima, Den Obinata — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1934.
