Labour Day

An adult coming-of-age story about Harper, a master's student, faced with an unplanned pregnancy. She decides to have her abortion in a small cottage resort town to keep it a secret from her family and friends. When her boyfriend decides that a golf trip with 'the guys' is more important than being with her, she must face her childhood playground in a new light. Faced with many broken promises, she soon comes to rely on the rental cottage owner's son to drive her to her appointment and to help her break free of the past.

Directed by Tracey Strnad, Labour Day leans on a strong ensemble — Rochelle Reynolds, David Roland Walpole, Kathy Rupcic — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2021.
