Showa Kayo Musical Mata Au Hi Made

Isono Sae is an office lady in Showa 63 (1988), who has difficulty living during the economic bubble when everything became expensive. Somehow, Sae wanders into the parallel world of “Reiwa” and decides to use Showa songs which she dislikes, as a weapon to change the world where human relationships are weak.

Directed by Tomoyuki Furumaya, Showa Kayo Musical Mata Au Hi Made leans on a strong ensemble — Riko Fukumoto, Kodai Asaka, Yuki Saito — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 2022.
