The film tells the touching story of Yin Lingzhi, a young girl from a mountain village who experienced the severe test of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and eventually grew into a staunch communist fighter and sacrificed her life for it.
Directed by Wei Xiaotong, Yin Lingzhi, Daughter of the Party leans on a strong ensemble — Gao Siwen, Yao Anlian, Wang Jianguo — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2016.
