About Isabelle of Paris
Set during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, Isabelle Laustin is a 15 year-old girl, born in a noble French family living in Paris. When Napoleon III' army loses the Paris siege she escapes to London, fighting as a secret agent for France.
Directed by Keiji Hayakawa, Isabelle of Paris leans on a strong ensemble — Mami Koyama, Kazuyuki Sogabe, Yuji Mitsuya — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about animation titles of 1979.
