Set in a dystopian America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. When an unidentified body is found in a luxury apartment linked to Oliver Kennedy and his girlfriend Ciara Wyse, Detectives Lee Reardon and Karl Connolly reconstruct the couple's deadly romance across the past 56 days.

When Andrea, a damage regulator from Benthos Oil, is sent out to Rig 45 two days before Christmas to investigate a fatal accident, the rig is hit by a hurricane and all communications lost. Soon, the crew realize that the accident is in fact a murder, and they now know that they are in real danger.

Amid the drug trade on Cape Cod, a body washes ashore and is discovered by an irreverent National Marine Fisheries Service officer, Jackie Quinones, who is determined to help solve the murder even if the state cops want her nowhere near the case.
