It depicts the life of Topázio, a blind woman who falls in love with Jorge Luis, the son of the owners of a large estate; little did they know, however, that they had been switched at birth, as Topázio had been presumed dead. Topázio had a close friend, Sirilo, who suffered from mental health issues.
Directed by Delia Fiallo, Topacio leans on a strong ensemble — Grecia Colmenares, Víctor Cámara, Zoe Ducós — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about soap titles of 1984.
