About Serra Pelada: A Saga do Ouro
The miniseries tells the story of two childhood friends. Juliano and Joaquim leave their lives in São Paulo behind to pursue a dream: finding gold in the interior of Pará. The plot is set against the backdrop of the true story of the modern world's largest open-pit gold mine. More than 100,000 workers were drawn to Serra Pelada in the 1980s.
Directed by Heitor Dhalia, Serra Pelada: A Saga do Ouro leans on a strong ensemble — Juliano Cazarré, Júlio Andrade, Wagner Moura — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2014.
