The series was based on the BBC radio comedy Band Waggon. Produced for the ITV network by Associated-Rediffusion, all nine episodes survive in the archives.
Directed by Arthur Askey, Living It Up leans on a strong ensemble — Arthur Askey, Richard Murdoch — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1957.
