Coppers End

Coppers End is a police station where the policemen work very hard to avoid work. A crime would involve them filling in forms, making out reports and, heaven forbid, giving evidence in court.

Directed by Ted Willis, Coppers End leans on a strong ensemble — Bill Owen, Richard Wattis, Josephine Tewson — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1971.
