About Merlin
The story of conquerors and prophets - The series takes place in Celtic Britain of the fifth century. The 13 year old Merlin grows up at the Court of his grandfather, King Ostar. His mother Alviga is the daughter of the King, his father is the son of the Devil, who appears as Rufus in human form.
Directed by Justus Pfaue, Merlin leans on a strong ensemble — Ekkehardt Belle, Roman Fromlowitz, Manfred Schott — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1980.
