The Monroes is a 26-segment Western television series which originally aired on ABC during the 1966-1967 season. The series centers around the story of five orphans trying to survive as a family on the frontier in the area around, what is now, Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyoming.
Directed by Milt Rosen, The Monroes leans on a strong ensemble — Barbara Hershey, Kevin Schultz, Keith Schultz — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about western titles of 1966.
