Westway is a British television series made by HTV for ITV in 1976. The series dealt with the lives of three families living together in a commune in Bristol, and explored issues of self-sufficiency also addressed by BBC series of the period such as The Good Life and Survivors.
Directed by Guy Slater, Westway leans on a strong ensemble — Sylvestra Le Touzel, Simon Gipps-Kent, Ivor Salter — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1976.
