About Agora é Que São Elas
The synopsis was loosely inspired by an argument by Paulo José called Cidade das Formigas. It was based on what happened in the city of Formiga, in Minas Gerais, where women work for large clothing manufacturers in the country. In Formiga Real, women guarantee a large part of their families' livelihood with this work.
Directed by Ricardo Linhares, Agora é Que São Elas leans on a strong ensemble — Vera Fischer, Miguel Falabella, Débora Falabella — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about soap titles of 2003.
