In a near-future world, a lonely, physically challenged man purchases a companion robot to escape his isolation, but his own insecurities and a jealous brother threaten his chances of ever finding love.

After a woman is separated from the love of her life due to a mission to another solar system, she finds that he may never have existed at all, and journeys through all of eternity and the depths of her mind to discover the answer.

With their lives at stake, three young people must rely on their love and friendship to defy the forces of hate and violence that set their world ablaze in turn-of-the-century North Carolina.
