About Mishka in the North
After working for two years in the Arctic, all-terrain vehicle driver Mikhail Ruchkin decided to spend his vacation in Moscow. However, he was unable to carry out his plan. First, the plane changed course due to bad weather. Then, after a forced landing, Mikhail helped an unfamiliar driver fix a problem with his all-terrain vehicle, met a girl named Zoya, and was grateful to fate.
Directed by Sergey Shpakovskiy, Mishka in the North leans on a strong ensemble — Vladimir Puchkov, Raisa Vasilyeva (II), Olga Ageeva — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1980.
