About Karamdaata
Rai Bahadur is a very rich man. Neeta, his daughter, elopes with a taxi driver who later is revealed that wanted her only for her money. Desperate, Neeta commits suicide, abandoning her little daughter to Rai Bahadur's arms to raise her. When young Pinky grows up and also falls in love with the taxi driver Govinda, Rai Bahadur, afraid that the same misfortune will now plight his grandaughter, tries to seperate them. But Pinky's father will return from the shadows to claim what is his.
Directed by Shashilal K. Nair, Karamdaata leans on a strong ensemble — Mithun Chakraborty, Amrita Singh, Shammi Kapoor — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1986.
