
A man working for a trading company and a former stripper. The two have abandoned their home and family and are on the run. When the wife realizes her husband is missing, she searches his company and any places she can think of, but to no avail. What's worse, she discovers that he has run off with company money and that she has been divorced. In her despair, she receives a call from a stranger who says he will tell her where her husband is. Feeling uneasy, she goes to the meeting place, only to be raped by the man. It turns out that the man is the lover of the stripper her husband ran off with. She then learns that her husband, together with the stripper, had embezzled money from the theater and run off with it...
Directed by Akira Kato, Lusty Afternoon leans on a strong ensemble — Rumi Tama, Hiroshi Gojo, Ren Seidō — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1977.
