Serafín is a Mexican children's telenovela produced by José Alberto Castro for Televisa and originally broadcast on Canal de las Estrellas from August 30 to December 17, 1999. It stars Maribel Guardia, Eduardo Santamarina, Jordi Landeta, and features the voice of María Fernanda Morales as Serafín. The telenovela was the first Mexican production to incorporate digitally created animated characters into a live-action telenovela. The story follows Serafín, a cheerful but mischievous little angel who is sent to Earth to learn how to become a Guardian Angel. In Mexico City, he meets Pepe, an unhappy boy living with his mother, grandfather, and abusive stepfather. Determined to bring hope and happiness into Pepe's life, Serafín helps him and his friends overcome family conflicts, fear, and adversity while teaching lessons about love, friendship, kindness, and faith.
Directed by Carlos Daniel González, Ricardo Fiallega, Janely Lee, Serafín leans on a strong ensemble — Maribel Guardia, Eduardo Santamarina, Yordi Landeta — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The series landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1999.
